|During the month of Rabi al-Awwal, Muslims around the world honour the birth of the Best of Creation ﷺ through gatherings of Hadith, Inshad and events detailing the blessed Sira. It is a great disservice to luminaries like Imam al-Busiri, Imam Yusuf al-Nabhani and Imam Ahmad Rida Khan et al., that we sing their poetry in praise of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ yet we move forward from the month of Rabi al-Awwal without any substantial gain, whether in knowledge or in practice. We must drive a change in culture and an agenda of reform.
Al-hamd li-Allah, we are excited to share with you the Mawlid Fund. Each year, one work on the Prophet ﷺ will be printed through funds collected throughout the year. This will range on books detailing his blessed life, his virtues, his miracles, his sayings, and prayers upon him—may Allah shower His prayers and salutations upon him. In sha Allah, this will continue until our last breaths.
Let us abandon lip service that is currently populated with entertainers who care more for their pockets than the faith of their audiences. Let us make a lasting legacy, one that we may seek a means of salvation through.
If you become a means for disseminating books on invoking prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ, then you will be blessed and enveloped in Allah’s prayers for as long as these books continue to be read and circulated—perhaps even until the Day of Resurrection.
A man appeared in the last century who spent his life passionately devoted to the Prophet ﷺ. He composed both poetry and prose in praise of him, in love for him, and in invoking blessings upon him. These works continue to be read and published to this day, and all their merit is recorded in his ledger of deeds. This man is the eminent scholar, Imam Yusuf al-Nabhani.
He authored a monumental encyclopedia on invoking prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ, leaving nothing related to the subject unaddressed. He discussed the matter in great detail, citing the views of scholars across disciplines—Qur’anic exegesis, Hadith, Fiqh, and Tasawwuf—until the work spanned nearly two thousand pages.
He also wrote three major books on the subject, each distinguished by a unique focus. In one, he compiled the most excellent prayers upon the Prophet as reported from the scholars; in another, he collected all the forms of blessings reported from the righteous and the gnostics; and in the third, he gathered every phrase of exaltation and praise he could find concerning the Prophet ﷺ.
In addition, he authored two small treatises for spiritual aspirants to recite regularly: one containing selections from the invocations of the pious, and the other compiling one thousand formulae of blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ.
Supporting Sunni Scholars proudly announces that this year it will be collecting its Mawlid Fund for printing these six monumental works (detailed description of each one is yet to come). A total of £30,000 is required to get these to print for the Mawlid.
Thus, whenever you aspire to receive immense spiritual aid from the Prophet ﷺ, let your share be significant in spreading these books and these invocations among people, as a means of drawing closer to the noble presence of the Prophet ﷺ.
al-Nazm al-Badi fi Mawlid al-Shafi ﷺ
For the inaugural Mawlid Fund project, 1446 AH, we were delighted to bring to you the first ever critically-edited version of Imam al-Nabhani’s famous poem on the Blessed Birth of the Prophet ﷺ. Not only was this edition edited according to four unique manuscripts, it also featured the great Imam’s own footnotes and annotations. The whole text was produced in beautifully handwritten calligraphy and designed to the highest of standards, befitting for the Blessed Mawlid. One example of shear joy, happiness and love for the coming of the Prophet ﷺ is that of Imam Yusuf al-Nabhani. When he sold out three of his works, he printed 10,000 copies of this Mawlid, al-Nazm al-Badi and distributed them freely so that Muslims praise the Best of Creation ﷺ and share this felicity.
Using cutting-edge technology, DIYN endeavours to continue serving the corpus of the Muslim literary heritage. With your support, more works can be researched and printed, with subsequent distribution throughout the Muslim world, from Malaysia to Morocco, Syria to Saudi Arabia. The Mawlid Fund will provide a recurring funding source for the production of literature on the Prophet ﷺ.
The beloved Prophet ﷺ stated regarding charity, "The believer's shade on the day of resurrection will be his charity."
